Cheng-Yuan Sun, DVM, is a graduate of National Taiwan University School of Veterinary Medicine, where he earned his Master's degree from the Institute of Veterinary Clinical Science, School of Veterinary Medicine Laboratory, under the mentorship of Dr. Ching-Ho Wu. Sun's research has been centered on canine gait analysis and the biomechanics of cranial cruciate ligament disease, with a specific focus on enhancing intra-articular reconstruction surgery and conducting three-dimensional biomechanical analysis in canines with cranial cruciate ligament deficiency.
In addition to his academic achievements, Sun has actively participated in clinical practice. Previously, he served as a post-baccalaureate intern, gaining expertise in clinical anesthesia and animal care. During this period, Sun played a pivotal role in a stray animal rescue program, where he mentored undergraduate students in treating injured or ill stray animals. He has also enriched his knowledge through continuing education programs such as the IRCAD Veterinary Laparoscopic Surgery Course and MPL corrective osteotomy workshop.
Sun's dedication to advancing veterinary medicine is evident in his commitment to continuous learning and research excellence. With a strong interest in orthopedics, he aspires to become a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and contribute further to the field through innovative research and clinical practice.
