With more than 7 years teaching experience and other working experience both in China and abroad, strong inter-cultural communicative and organizing skills have built up. More importantly, I have found myself blessed with tremendous patience and empathy. The past few years interaction with kids helped me realize how exciting and rewarding it is to work with kids.
Part-time Teach English to kids aging from 6 to 12 (1st year primary school to 1st year middle school)
1. Teach online for about 4 hours and face to face for about 3 hours/sessions every week. (one on one teaching)
2. Check kids' after-class practice (Read-out loud) on a daily basis to help them review and improve their pronunciation.
3. Increased students motivation by timely feedback and recognizing individual achievements.
4. Prepare comprehensive,innovative and individualized teaching plans for each kid to cover required course topics and foster their critical thinking skills.
3. Help some kids with story-telling or speech contests held in their schools, different strategies used to meet diverse needs.
Fully engaged in local communities for environmental protection and gardening projects.
1. Organize locals for beach clean-up, local tourism spots restorations with natural materials like bamboo, tropical plants, rocks as to raise locals' awareness for sustainable tourism development.
2. Teach local kids English during the pandemic when local schools are closed.
3. Involve kids in crafts making and planting for local communities.
4. Involved a few times in charity activities like providing weekly free meals to some deprived communities when volunteering in Amanda Marga Cebu (Mainly help with cooking and food distribution).
5. Volunteering in one of the local Eco-projects (Camotes Island) for one month. (Mainly for cooking and veggie gardening, landscaping)
Teach English Reading and Writing to kids aging from 9 to 12 (4th to 6th Grade, Primary school). Each classroom has about 4 to 6 kids.
1. Make teaching plan for each class session, teach about 20 sessions every week.
2. Review and evaluate kids learning process after each session.
3. Review kids' after-class reading practices (Read-out loud recordings)
4. Train new teachers (Usually fresh graduates)
5. Organize auxiliary activities like: Monthly Toastmaster, Day-out learning sessions (Learn English while exploring the nature), put on drama or plays,etc
One week in July, 2019 (not paid job, but with free meals and accommodation)
Take care of two kids (One 5-year old girl Gabi & One 11-year old boy Benjamin) on a boat trip in Phuket, Thailand. My main task is to cook, spend time with 2 kids like swimming, snorkeling, going to beaches, It was a leisure trip and I have built up very a good bonding with them.
Work exchange in NZ in 2016 (Involving experience with kids)
1. One week in Dunedin, NZ
Spend one week in a family of one 4-year old boy Ollie, I was there helping with cleaning and cooking, taking care of Ollie when his parents are sometimes not at home.
2. One week in East Taieri, NZ
Spend one week in a family of one 5-year old girl Laura whose parents are Manuka bee keepers. My main job is to take care of Laura when her parents are out in the mountains for bee keeping.
3. Two weeks in Oamaru, NZ
Spent two weeks in a family of two kids: one 8-year old girl Zoe and one 4-year old boy Liam
4. Four days in Hokitika, NZ
Spent four days in a family of two kids: one 8-year old girl and one 3-year old boy. My main task is to spend time with kids drawing, gardening, doing handicrafts, baking for fun, etc. The two kids no need to go to school as they are home-educated.
1. Deliver courses on speaking, listening, and comprehensive reading in Chinese.
2. Organize cultural presentation on traditional Chinese festivals.
3. Offer free Taichi classes for students' family members.
My main job responsibilities in Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute during the three years are:
1. Delivering courses on Speaking & Listening, Comprehensive reading for non-majors and Intensive reading for English majors.
2. Training candidates for National English Contest
3. Assisting to organize English corner and other activities for English Club.
4. On-site Interpretation for foreign artists visiting and lecturing
5. Organizing students for volunteering yearly International Ceramic Fair
