Varsity member.

Every season, we will prepare for the games in the second semester and do some training that will fulfill the coach’s technique. Two compulsory sessions each week and two additional sessions for the varsity teams.

Every season, we will be training in the gym with various kinds of exercises led by our coach. It will be determined based on our ability whether we will attend singles or doubles matches. For each match, we learned different tactics.

I mainly play at the back of the line, which serves to help the attacking of the teams. We do different training sessions, including serving, passing, team building, and some internal competitions. We will be competing against many other international schools Shanghai.

Train twice a week. This activity helped me grow a lot, not only on muscles, but also in my mentality and persistence.

Sports Agents Program

Our aim was to help a girl's basketball team from a rural area in Shandong to successfully complete their trip for the National Youth Basketball Association (NYBO) competition. This include their trip plan, budgeting, etc. We were first trained as sport agents, being taught how to promote their brand, design posters, take pictures, etc. Then we went offline to meet up with the team. Raised funds, organized live streaming of games.

National Youth Basketball Organization (NYBO) Internship

During the internship, I had the chance to see how people in the sports industry work inside a big national competition. NYBO gathered many teams from all over the China, and I got the chance to learn about interviews, counting points on the field and live streaming. I better understood how sports tournaments work.

An official WeChat account that publishes articles on sports, with the mission to create a community in school in which everyone enjoys sports and can maintain a healthy life. I’m particularly responsible for the video section and soccer part. Wrote articles on topics such as the impact of the change of rules in soccer from 3 substitutions to 5 substitutions, and an interview of a school teacher’s opinion on premier league games.

Swim For Love Charity Competition

This is a volunteering activity I did last semester during the Swim for Love competition. Swim for Love is a competition that gathers students and parents to engage in swim activities. All the swimming records will be transferred into money for donation. This year's Swim for Love promoted more activities, including sports activities and charity sales. I'm responsible for the football competition.

Lorena Martin：Sports Management and Performance Analytics

We had some basics lectures on data analytics, including excel spreadsheet, Python, etc. Completed an essay ‘Factors that Influence Player Market Value in Different Positions: Evidence from European Leagues.’ We used raw data from a football reference website and categorized it into different groups, including data for strikers, midfielders, defenders and goalkeepers. We analyzed the correlation of these factors to their market values using Python by plotting a correlation diagram. We used that to analyze the trend and make an evaluation.

Robert Lyon：Inside Professional Sports: Issues and Challenges in Sports Management

An outside of school research essay program with Professor Robert Lyon from Stern College at NYU about branding strategy and sports management in the MLB, NFL, and NBA. I discovered the history of how each league had developed, the sports rules for each league, and chose a particular sports team to write a final essay on how it is managed.

Gender Equality and Female Literature Study: The Importance of Feminism Against Patriarchy with Reference to A Doll’s House

Produced a researched essay that focuses on female literature in the area of gender studies, particularly on the idea of feminism produced by Simone de Beauvoir with reference to the famous play A Doll’s House. The paper I wrote focuses on Ibsen’s personal experience in creating the play during that time, which stimulated the growth of the women’s movement.

Sports Science Intellectual Challenge

Intellectual challenge is a project that encourages students to expand their knowledge beyond the existing curriculum. The sports science prompt in the Intellectual Challenge Award is: Is doping good or bad? My sports science Intellectual Challenge essay about doping was nominated in our school. This essay explained doping’s drawbacks from four different aspects: health, individual’s image, country’s image, and sportsmanship.

Chuanqing Minority Group Fieldwork Reports and Exhibition

Researched face-to-face on the Chuanqing ethnic group in Guizhou. We needed to report on their culture through an exhibition. We held our exhibition in a book shop called Zhongshuge. I was responsible for the infographics where we took photos of the Chuanqing culture. We attracted many customers to come in. My report with my study group was published in a periodical. Guangzhou Leming Village Poverty Saving Proposal

Traveled to a rural village in Guangzhou to investigate the potential of developing the village. Spent time with the families there, and found one feature of the village to use it to develop a project. All groups were livestreamed and were evaluated by the local villagers. We were evaluated as having the best presentation.

Global Space design Challenge with Imperial College

Finance Department Leader and Presenter of the Global Space Design Challenge

This is a large group project that includes students from all over the world. Our aim in the project is to build a space station outside of Earth that is able to provide space for people to live. We have different departments, including Medical Department, Finance Department, etc. The goal of our Finance Department is to create a financial plan that includes the cost of all the other departments use of materials and evaluate this.

Sports Business Academy in Wharton Global Youth Program, University of Pennsylvania

Examined various academic disciplines as they apply to the sports industry with an overview of the business and legal aspects of various intercollegiate, Olympic, and professional sports enterprises. Students ultimately gain insight into the leadership, management, and increasingly global nature of the sports business. Had the chance to interact with some of the sports industry experts like sports media interviewer, sports lawyer, sports company owner. Completed a group business project on Name Image and Likeness (NIL), which is a deal that helps college athletes find sports deals with companies. Created business plan and conducted SWOT analysis.

“The Science of Psychology” Course in Columbia Online Summer School

This course gives us an overview of psychology from different aspects. Each lecture is based on a famous psychology study, including developmental, social, perceptual, visual, cultural and cultural-clinical psychology. At last, each one of us is required to conduct a research proposal on a field of psychology that we are interested in. I did one based on the research of social conformity. We also gave a presentation on the psychology of rock paper scissors.

Imperial College Online Summer School Finance and Economics program

This is a preparation program for the global space design challenge and a foundation of knowledge for finance. In this program, we are able to learn about economics and finance from some industry experts in the field.

Green Origin Club

The club focuses on how to improve environmental protection inside our school. I have suggested several solutions to issues that we have implemented on campus. When managing the Red account, I’m particularly focused on the design of the post, upcoming events and reflections of our past events. For example, we changed the cups that are used in the tea bar from plastic to paper to make it more eco-friendly and organized a clean plate competition, minimizing food waste.

IGCSE Business Academic Tutoring
