Summary

My name is Wang Tzu-yun. I was born in Kaohsiung, and in terms of character, I am an optimistic and aspiring person. My hobbies are reading, engaging in arts activities, and fencing. I always find different insights and inspirations from the former two, while fencing has helped me build up my mental resilience and tenacity.

I graduated from National Chengchi University with a double major in English and Japanese. In my senior year, I participated in an exchange program to Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, which significantly enhanced my Japanese language skills. Later on, I completed a Master's degree in Translation at National Taiwan University.

My first job after graduation was working as a Project Manager and full-time translator at OURS, a localization company. I was mainly responsible for translating training materials for Apple retail store in Taiwan. This job taught me how to track project progress and communicate effectively with clients and translators, while developing my ability to handle tight deadlines and stay focused. After that, I transitioned to Taipei Times to work as a translator. My willingness to take on new challenges allowed me to quickly adapt, and I was entrusted with various tasks, such as translating opinion pieces, writing editorials on current events and selecting opinion articles from leading media outlets.

I joined the Control Yuan as a specialist in January, 2024. My main responsibilities included receiving foreign guests, organizing visits and translating documents in English and Japanese, such as annual reports, congratulatory letters, reply letters, etc. I also interpreted for officials and visitors. This role has provided me with practical experience in interpretation. As I was designated to translate the annual report and semi annual report, I made use of my design skills and aestheticism and successfully breathed new life to the publications.

I came on board to Prologium Technology in September 2024. Currently, I am responsible for managing the procurement process for the laboratory in France. Additionally, I handle communication and translation between foreign suppliers and internal departments.

By chance, I came across the announcement that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is looking for a translator. I believe that I have what it takes to excel in this job. In addition to utilizing the experience I gained during my internship at SDI in subtitling, I can apply the translation and editing skills I accumulated at the Taipei Times and the Control Yuan to this position.

Although I may yet have a lot of learn in the world of diplomacy, I am confident that my commitment to self-improvement and passion will set me apart. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute and become an asset to MOFA.
