My name is Yen-Yu Chou, and I hold a nursing degree from the Department of Nursing at National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences. I have three years of clinical experience in thoracic, gastroenterology, and oncology wards at Cheng Hsin General Hospital and Mackay Memorial Hospital, as well as additional work in nursing homes and the medical device industry. These roles equipped me with strong clinical judgment, emergency response skills, and familiarity with both acute care and long-term elderly care, while also giving me cross-disciplinary exposure to healthcare and sales services. Seeking new challenges, I transitioned to the aviation industry and served as a flight attendant with EVA Air for four years. During this time, I completed extensive safety and emergency response training and was certified on Boeing 777, Boeing 787, and Airbus A321 aircraft. At 30,000 feet, I often faced situations where resources were limited and time was critical, requiring calm assessment and decisive action. These included handling medical emergencies, disruptive passengers, and in-flight injuries. In my very first month on duty, I encountered an aggressive passenger on a flight from Hong Kong. By applying Crew Resource Management (CRM), I coordinated with my team, reassured others, and helped bring the situation under control, reinforcing for me the importance of teamwork and composure under pressure. My nursing background allowed me to take initiative in in-flight medical cases, often providing care before requests for assistance were made. This proactive approach not only supported passenger well-being but also strengthened trust within the crew. Combining my clinical expertise with aviation emergency training, I am able to ensure both safety and high-quality service, remaining adaptable, reliable, and composed in diverse and challenging situations.
