Summary

As someone pursuing a career in clinical medicine and evidence-based practice, I believe that participating in an international clinical elective will offer me a valuable educational experience. It will enhance my understanding of evidence-based medicine practices across diverse healthcare systems while also allowing me to contribute meaningfully to patient care worldwide. I am particularly interested in observing and participating in how clinical decision-making integrates current medical knowledge, clinical guidelines, and local healthcare contexts to optimize patient outcomes across various cultural and healthcare settings. Additionally, I aim to gain valuable hands-on experience through intensive exposure to communication and collaboration with medical professionals from diverse societies and cultural backgrounds. Most importantly, I look forward to working with a team that has a range of perspectives in a culturally rich environment. Ultimately, I believe that pursuing an international clinical elective can be one of the most essential experiences for my career path and my vision of practicing and improving robust evidence-based medicine.
As the affiliated medical school of one of the most prestigious universities in Asia, the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, along with its associated healthcare organizations, offers some of the finest medical care in the world. It also provides exceptional clinical education in Asia and is committed to practicing rigorous evidence-based medicine. There is a notable difference between the healthcare systems in Singapore and Taiwan. These differences include the policies regarding family visits in inpatient units, health insurance coverage, the tiered structure of healthcare services, and medical education. These factors contribute to significant variations in clinical practices between the two countries. Singapore is a unique state known for its diverse cultures. I believe that I will gain valuable hands-on experience through intensive interactions, communication, and collaboration with people from various societies, cultural backgrounds, and perspectives. Most importantly, I look forward to working with a team made up of individuals from different backgrounds in a culturally rich environment. I am eager to pursue a career in clinical medicine research, international collaboration, and evidence-based medicine. Therefore, I believe that the international medical elective program offered by the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine will be a crucial experience on my path toward advancing my goals and enhancing my practice of robust evidence-based medicine.
