Hi there,
I graduated from the Vehicle Engineering Department of National Taipei University of Technology. After graduation, I worked at the Taigene Electric Machinery Co., Ltd as a motor mechanic engineer at R&D department. Three years at Taigene I introduced three projects into mass production, and finished another three DV project.
Role & Responsibility
From the beginning of a project, feasibility assessment, 2D engineering drawing, DFMEA, control plan, MSA, I learned a lot of knowledge and skill that I never learned in school. Also learned lots new tools, like: solid edge, Minitab. At DV sample stage, the discussion with different supplier give me the opportunity to learn from them and gain some further knowledge of different field, such as: plastic injection, powder metallurgy, stamping, milling, casting…… etc. In the meantime, I also self-study the Ansys static structural analysis and got the certification from the Industrial Technology Research Institute as “Ansys structural analysis engineer”.
DV sample means Design validation samples. During DV sample stage we will face lots of different problems which both of our customer and we didn’t foresee, to solve these problems we need to have continues trial and discussed our customer. This process not only improve my problem-solving ability and also improve my communication skill and language skill, all of my clients was foreigner and all the meeting were held in English. Three years of work experience allows me to complete a 3 D drawing, 2D engineering drawing, geometric tolerance calculation, control plan production, DFMEA production, design experiments and the ability to deal with customers independently.
Role of Mechanical Design Engr. & Product Engineer:
1. Join Customer Focus Team (CFT) as Mechanical Design Engineer.
2. Work with PM and Sales from RFQ stage to award the business.
3. Work with Customers for the DFX discussion and also work internally to get the feedback from MFG, SCM Team on the DFM, DFC…
4. Leveraging existing design to conduct feasibility studies for the modularity design and common parts sharing to reduce the development time.
5. Create and review technical drawings, model, plans, and specifications.
6. Communicate between customer, internal departments and suppliers.
7. Conducts and participates in engineering tests to validate the robustness and proper performance of prototype products.
8. Execution of development work to meet Project schedule set by PM and Customer.
Responsibility of Mechanical Design Engr. & Product Engineer:
1. Work closely with Sales, PM and CFT during the RFQ stage and award the business.
2. To maximize company’s benefit to award the Project with high margin (GP% and OP%)
3. Successfully to pass all of the development testing at each stage (EVT, DVT and PVT) to meet the schedule (TTM and TTV).
4. Assure smooth NPI transfer to MP and the high RTY and FPY.
